MentorLink

The OTA MentorLink program is currently under review, and we are not accepting new applications. 

MentorLink is a facilitated mentoring program for members of Occupational Therapy Australia. The program is available to occupational therapists working in both the public and private sectors throughout Australia.

MentorLink aims to provide practitioners with support tailored to their professional development, performance needs and career aspirations. MentorLink partnerships can improve career satisfaction and develop skills within the occupational therapy profession.

The mentoring program has clear parameters.  Within a MentorLink partnership, a mentee and mentor work together to set goals around particular areas of need and/or interest.  The following areas are considered suitable, however this list is not exhaustive:

Program Exclusions

The mentoring program is not designed to provide the following:

  • Clinical/professional supervision
  • Training
  • Line management
  • Mental health counselling
  • Mental health/wellbeing support
  • Clinical advice
  • Specific clinical case discussion/review
  • Advice regarding establishment or management of private practice
  • Business/financial/accountancy advice
  • Human resource/industrial relations/ workplace advice

Eligibility

Mentors

Occupational therapists with a minimum of 5 years experience working as an OT and an interest in supporting others are encouraged to apply to become a MentorLink mentor.  At a minimum, OTs must be members of Occupational Therapy Australia; fully registered with AHPRA and have their own Public Indemnity Insurance which provides coverage for volunteer work within the MentorLink Program.  More information is contained in the Mentor Application Pack (see below).

Mentees

Mentees must be Occupational Therapy Australia members and fully registered with AHPRA with no limitations or conditions. More information is contained in the Mentee Application Pack (see below).

NOTE: Student members or those waiting for a qualification review are required to wait until they are a full member and meet the above criteria, before seeking a mentor.

Partnerships

Matches are skills based so the majority of partnerships are conducted via phone, email or video-conference. MentorLink mentors are in all States and Territories and many matches have interstate participants.
