General memberships provide the full range of member benefits and are available to working occupational therapists currently registered with AHPRA. General memberships are divided into Full-Time and Part-Time memberships according to hours worked per week.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduate of an occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT
  • Current and full registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
  • Working as an occupational therapist and/or in a role using occupational therapy skills

Student memberships are free and available to eligible tertiary students studying an undergraduate or masters entry level occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT. Learn more about the member benefits student members receive.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Studying an undergraduate or masters entry level occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT and not yet graduated
  • Registered as a student with AHPRA
  • Not a postgraduate student of an occupational therapy program

*Post-graduates are not eligible for student membership.

Student memberships expire on 31 January 2023.

New Graduate memberships provide all the member benefits of general membership but at a reduced rate to support OTs making the transition from student to professional. This membership is available within 12 months of the course completion date and may be held for a maximum of two years from the course completion date.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A graduate of an occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT
  • Current and full registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
  • Must join within 12 months of course completion, and through renewal can be held for a maximum of two consecutive years

Affiliate memberships are available to occupational therapists in Australia or overseas who are retired, on family leave or not working in any capacity. This category is for people who wish to maintain their involvement and interest with OTA, and support the profession, but with reduced member benefits.

Eligibility Criteria

  • May or may not have current registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
  • Occupational therapists who are on parental leave, retired, overseas or not working in any capacity
  • Postgraduate student (of an occupational therapy program) and not working in any capacity
  • Internationally qualified OT not working in Australia who is a graduate of an occupational therapy education program recognised by WFOT
