COVID Allied Health Package Information for Residential Aged Care Facilities

The Commonwealth Government has announced funding for Allied Health group programs in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF) that were impacted by COVID-19.

The program aims to improve physical functioning of residents who have been impacted by COVID-19 lock downs. The program provides funding for twice weekly therapy for up to 26 weeks.  The group programs (maximum 4 participants per group) are to be run by an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or exercise physiologist. Funding is also available for some initial client consultations.

RACFs who had 2 or more cases of COVID-19 at their facility are eligible for this additional support. There are over 100 RACFs that are eligible, predominately in Victoria but also in NSW and Tasmania.  All residents in identified RACFs are able to participate.

Primary Health Networks (PHN) are responsible for contracting Allied Health staff to provide services to the eligible RACFs.

More information on this program, including eligible RACFs, can be accessed here.

If you are interested in providing Occupational Therapy services as part of this Commonwealth funded program, then OTA suggests accessing australiantenders.com.au or making contact with your local PHN to explore available opportunities.
