RECORDED WEBINAR SUMMARY

Intermediate Course on Common Hand Conditions 
Presented by Jennifer Mathais and Dane Johnson, this course involves a more detailed approach to assessing patients with hand conditions and give you the skills to thoroughly assess the patient, design a treatment plan and know when to seek a Surgical opinion. 

SUITABLE FOR

This course is for the therapist who has had some experience with basic hand conditions and wants to increase the depth of their knowledge to be able to accurately diagnose and treat these patients independently. 

Please note; it would be beneficial if therapists complete the introduction to hand therapy, but not essential. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the completion of this course, therapists will; 

  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of upper limb anatomy 

  • Complete an initial assessment with a patient whilst appreciating further diagnostic assessments 

  • Apply clinical reasoning to plan a treatment approach 

PRESENTERS

Jennifer Mathias

Jennifer has specialised in Hand and Upper Limb rehabilitation for over 25 years. She has cemented her knowledge by completing post graduate studies, participating in research projects, and being the co-author of medical journals. She has run Melbourne Hand Therapy for the last 25 years. She now enjoys lecturing and doing presentations to Surgeons, GP’s and graduating therapists. 

Dane Johnson

Dane found a passion for hand and upper limb rehabilitation as a junior physiotherapist in Canberra in 2013. Since then he has cemented his knowledge by completing an array of professional development courses in addition to his experience working internationally. Dane has worked in the United Kingdom at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, this role aided in his development in which he worked alongside skilled therapists and surgeons.
