I've worked with many different clients with a complex variety of issues since I began my practice, but more and more, I have found myself working in two specific areas: children and adults with ADHD and individuals with internet addictions. Lately, I've been seeing an increasing number of clients who feel they spend too much time on the internet. They're not getting their work done on time or they're discovering that their personal relationships are being neglected. Sometimes they even suffer from a lack of sleep or exercise because they're spending way too many hours a day sitting in front of their computer screens. These men and women, even kids, may be suffering from a relatively new behavioral condition called net-compulsion or internet addiction. These terms both refer to a broad category of behaviors that include obsessive online gambling, gaming, pornography, shopping, even chat rooms and Facebook! Considering the element of immediate results, it's not too surprising that clients with ADHD, are especially vulnerable to this type of addiction. In order to be more useful to my clients, I've become trained in several types of compulsive and obsessive behaviors and have earned my Certificate in Internet Addiction and Psychology of the Web from the Zur Institute, approved by the American Psychology Association and the National Board of Certified Counselors. If you're looking for hope and help in getting back control over your life, if you're looking for relief from addictive behaviors, then Why not give me a call today and let's see what we can do together to help you find a better way (919 )616-6779 pthefferan@nc.rr.com 146 Wind Chime Court, Raleigh, NC 27615 |
